Jan Larwig is a senior software engineer at STACKIT and Core Maintainer of OAuth2 Proxy. He works mainly with Go, Kubernetes, GitOps, and focuses on building cloud-native platforms and tools that help other developers ship software faster. Jan enjoys making the internals of cloud-native systems practical, understandable, and worth experimenting with.
Artem Lajko, certified CNCF Kubestronaut and Head of Platform Engineering, specializes in Kubernetes scalability and GitOps-driven workflows. He is the author of Implementing GitOps with Kubernetes and an IT freelancer writing for various publishers. As a Platform Engineering Ambassador, he supports companies and the community in adopting Platform Engineering, Internal Developer Platforms, and related technologies. Passionate about Open Source, he helps organizations choose the right tools, driving tech adoption and innovation.

Managing platform engineering across multiple Kubernetes clusters can quickly become a tangle of charts, infrastructure modules, and GitOps configuration. Kubara (an open source project) simplifies this challenge by introducing a dedicated package manager to the ecosystem: It can bundle all those pieces into a single reusable OCI artifact called a catalog. kubara uses it to generate reproducible manifests, scripts, modules and can bootstrap a clusters in minutes with Argo CD for GitOps reconciliation.
Join us for an interactive, hands-on workshop where you will explore kubara’s approach to scalable platform management and put it into practice on your own machine.
Agenda
● Part 1: Environment Setup We will guide everyone through the initial workspace configuration to ensure a smooth setup.
● Part 2: Platform Engineering & kubara Overview We'll give you a short introduction to the engineering challenge of platform building and how kubara's approach works.
● Part 3: Hands-On Experience Your turn to take the wheel! Set up kubara locally on your laptop, and experience rapid Kubernetes Platform bootstrapping firsthand.
Prerequisites & Requirements
To participate in the practical exercises, please bring a laptop running macOS, Linux, or Windows (WSL2) with Docker pre-installed and running.
No prior kubara experience required - just bring your laptop, curiosity, and enthusiasm! :)
