I work since 2018 with OpenStack and I'm yaook developer and operator since 2021.
In case oft failing nodes or when rolling out upgrades one don't want to migrate/evict all VMs manually. In case of failing hosts, one even wants to start eviction before an admin took action, as the workload should run again as fast as possible.
I will show how we use Kubernetes and basic OpenStack features to run automatic evictions/migrations at the livecycle management and day-2 operation tool Yaook. This functionality we don't only use for host outages but for daily business config changes and updates, as well as OpenStack upgrades.
Yaook is developed by many users and companies and is OpenSource. It is governed by an assosiation/foundation ALASCA e.V.
It is a tool to rollout and configure OpenStack with focus on Day-2 operations.
