It’s really just a music app—but how much can you actually find out about a person if you gain access to their Spotify data? In this presentation, we’ll share what we’ve learned about our colleagues based on their Spotify user data.
To do this, we’re taking full advantage of the GDPR—and as a result, we’ve been able to answer a whole range of questions: How often have people lost or damaged their cell phones? Where have they traveled? And how regular are their sleep patterns? In addition to detailed insights into the Spotify data, we’ll provide a brief overview of the legal framework and examine exactly how well other companies are complying with the GDPR. Even though we all understand in theory that data can wield enormous power, we want to present concrete examples of this in the talk—especially when it’s supposedly just a music app.
